Help build the design tool mechanical engineers deserve.

AIM Works is a small, engineer-founded team in Cincinnati, growing with the product. We hire ahead of need — so talk to us early.

We're building a connected mechanical design workspace: loads, ventilation, equipment and plant sizing, Design Review, and deliverables in one project, built around the firm's own design criteria. It launches October 15, 2026, mechanical-only, with electrical and plumbing on the roadmap behind it. The team is engineers first — the product is built by a mechanical engineer for engineers — and it grows as the product does. The roles below are where we're building our pipeline first. Introduce yourself now and you'll hear from us as they open, often before we post them anywhere else.

Where we're growing next

Three areas we expect to hire into first as the product finds its footing after launch. Expressions of interest are open for all of them.

Expressions of interest open

Applications Engineer

Mechanical / HVAC · remote or Cincinnati

Be the engineer between the product and the engineers using it: run demos, turn customer feedback into test cases, and make sure every result stands up to a PE's review.

  • 3+ years of mechanical design — loads, airside, hydronics, plant
  • Comfortable with ASHRAE 90.1 / 62.1 and the IMC in practice
  • Enjoys explaining, not just calculating; EIT or PE a plus

Product Engineer

Python · full-stack · remote

Own features end to end in a Python codebase with real engineering calculation engines underneath — from the data model through the UI to the PDF that leaves the building.

  • Strong Python; comfortable across data, UI, and infrastructure
  • Has shipped to real users and supported what they shipped
  • Curiosity about the engineering domain — you'll learn it here

Growth & Customer Success

Engineer-facing · remote

Help mechanical engineers find AIM Works and get value from it fast: onboarding, content, the free-calculator funnel, and the feedback loop back into the product.

  • Has sold to or supported technical, skeptical buyers
  • Writes clearly; can run a demo without a script
  • Engineering or construction background is a real advantage

How we work

What you'd actually be signing up for.

1

Every feature starts from a real project

Nothing ships because it demos well. It ships because an engineer needed it on a job and it held up to review.

2

The methods are cited, the limits are disclosed

ASHRAE, IMC, NFPA — on every result. We'd rather say "reference only" than overstate what a calculation can carry.

3

Small team, high trust

You'll own whole problems, talk to customers directly, and see your work in the product the same week.

4

Built in public

We show the work — the free calculators, the methodology page, the honest comparisons — because that's how engineers decide to trust a tool.

What hiring looks like here

Short, respectful of your time, and built around real work rather than puzzles.

Step 1

Introduce yourself

The form below. A few lines about you and a link or two is plenty.

Step 2

30-minute call

With the founder. What we're building, what you're looking for, whether it fits.

Step 3

A real problem

A short, paid exercise drawn from actual product work — never a brain-teaser.

Step 4

Decision

A clear yes or no within a week, with reasons either way.

Get on our radar

We reach out as roles open — often before we post them. Tell us who you are and what you'd want to work on.

Thanks — you're on our radar. We'll be in touch as soon as there's a fit.
